September 23, 1811, one "Jacob Mead" swears "true faith and allegiance to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts" and promises to "defend the constitution and government thereof against traitorous conspiracies, and all hostile and violent attempts whatsoever..." One page, single-sided, measures 6.25" x 8", partially printed, partially hand-signed. In very good condition with fold creases.
