This was presented to bassist Joe Schermie to commemorate the sale of more than one million copies of the band's 1971 single, which was written by Hoyt Axton. (The song was later Billboard Magazine's top single of the year.) The award features a mounted gold disc along with the RIAA-issues dedication plaque.
