AL AVISON - (b. 1920) was a very prolific comic artist of the 1940s and '50s. Beginning at Timely (later Marvel), he helped create the Whizzer for USA Comics #1. He also worked on stories featuring Captain America, tht Vision, Blonde Phantom, and others while at Timely. His biggest volume of work was produced at Harvey where he produced many stories featuring Green Hornet and other characters as well as creating cover art for virtually every Harvey title regardless of the genre until 1954.

This is the original cover art to Kerry Drake Detective Cases #23, cover dated Dec. 1950. This piece was professionally restored by Robert Dennis. The logo mast area and other text elements have been reproduced. Click here to view the before image. This piece has an overall size of 13" x 18.5".
