AL KORTNER (1905 - 1999) received his initial training at the Pittsburgh Institute of Art both in commercial and fine art, and later continued his studies at the Art Institute of Chicago.  He worked as a commercial artist in Chicago and then continued a long and rewarding career in New York City, in both fine art and commercial art, doing a variety of illustrations, cover images, and other artwork.

This original illustration art was published in the August 6, 1950 issue of The American Weekly magazine, illustrating the story "Belle Boyd's Love Story," by Louis A. Sigaud. The art is in good condition with corner damage, some chips out, a tear at the right center edge, and overall wear. The image area measures 31" x 22.5".
