AUGUST LOHR (German 1843-1919) was a landscape artist who sometimes traveled and painted in the Americas, including New Orleans from 1884 to 1885 and the San Francisco area and Mexico in the late 1890s.

This is an original watercolor painting on paper entitled "Rio y Montana". It is signed and dated 1896 in the bottom left corner. The paper has some yellowing but, otherwise, this piece appears to be in excellent condition. The art has been framed to an overall size of 24.5" x 18.5" with a matte window area of 17" x 10.5".
