CHARLES ADDAMS - NEW YORKER CARTOON (1939) LINCOLN ON THE GOLF COURSE

|
CHARLES ADDAMS (1912 - 1988) began submitting cartoons to The New Yorker in 1935, and by 1940 he was on staff. His bizarre, eclectic 'toons often centered on the grotesque "Addam's Family," which later became the basis for the hit television series, and later two feature films.
This is the original art for a rare New Yorker cartoon (July 1, 1939 issue), which features Abraham Lincoln (wrapped in a shawl) showing up on the golf course, with the caption "That's the mental hazard on this hole." The art has an image area of 11.5" x 16" and is in very good condition. The piece has been tastefully matted and framed.
