JEAN-LEON GEROME - ORIGINAL "HOOP DANCER" STATUE

JEAN-LEON GEROME (French, 1824-1904) was a painter and sculpture of exotic themes from places like Turkey, Egypt and North Africa, as well as mythological subject matter. He was classically trained by Paul Delaroche and was an opponent of the Impressionist art movement. He debuted his scuptures in 1878. Click here to learn more about this important artist.

This polychrome bronze sculpture entitled "Hoop Dancer" stands 11.75" tall. There is a crack on the hoop to the backside of the figure but, otherwise, this piece is in excellent condition.
