Click on the image to enlarge | SUPERNATURAL STORIES (John Spencer & Co., 1954 - 1967) was a British "magazine" published in paperback format under the Badger Books imprint; each issue was made up of 5-8 horror/fantasy/supernatural tales in the pulp tradition, but lacking any interior illustrations. The stories were generally written by staff writers with little or no name value, and a high percentage of the tales were penned by R. Lionel Fanthorpe, the most famously prolific British author of the period, often under a variety of pseudonyms. The wonderfully lurid covers were mostly the work of an obscure artist named H. Fox (or possibly "Fox H." as many of the covers are signed), about whom we know very little. Occasionally the stories were replaced by a single novel-length tale, and these were published as Supernatural Special, although they retained the numbering of the regular issues. This is a copy of Supernatural Stories #93, published in 1964. On a ten-point condition scale, this grades a C7, with moderate-to-heavy overall wear, with some creasing to front and back covers. The book is complete and very readable. Please contact wayne@lewiswaynegallery.com if you require (or can offer) any additional information about this piece. |
